Friends, I love a Krispy Kreme. So much so that I’m not sure I’ve ever passed a Krispy Kreme store and didn’t stop to get myself a delicious dose of glazed goodness. It’s my go-to little sweet treat, so when they release a new box — like the new Movie Night range — I must make it my mission to get my hands on some.
They’ve dropped three new, limited-edition flavours to help make movie night even better: caramel popcorn, sour blue raspberry and sweet and salty. Naturally, we had to try them all, so you know which ones are worth wrapping your lips around. Here are our honest thoughts.
We taste-tested Krispy Kreme’s new Movie Night flavours
Caramel Popcorn
Described as “a shell-shaped doughnut filled with caramel, dipped in white truffle icing, drizzled with red truffle icing and finished with caramel popcorn.”
Our verdict:
This was definitely the house favourite, and we will be getting more of these for our next movie night. It’s got the classic glazed doughnut vibe with extra surprises like the filling and the actual popcorn. This with a glass of wine, a face mask and Pitch Perfect 1, 2 and 3 on the agenda is my perfect fucking night.
Sour Blue Raspberry
It’s the iconic Original Glazed Doughnut dipped in sour blue raspberry flavoured icing and sprinkled with sour raspberry and blue sugar sprinkles.
Our verdict:
This doughnut is probably the one me and my housemates were most intrigued by, but unfortunately it wasn’t our fave. The sourness kind of threw me off and low-key confused me, but I think if you love lollies over things like cake and chocolate, then this is probably the doughnut for you.
Sweet & Salty
This bad boy is a shell-shaped doughnut filled with butterscotch-flavoured kreme, sprinkled with salted caramel and biscuit pieces and finished with a caramel truffle drizzle.
Our verdict:
If the highest compliment someone has ever paid you for a dessert you’ve made is that “it’s not too sweet”, then this doughnut will speak to your soul. It’s exactly the right amount of sweet and salty, AND the biscuit pieces bring a crunch that makes this doughnut the whole package. Definitely my personal favourite in the drop!
A Movie Night Dozen will set you back $34.95, while a double pack (half Movie Night, half original glazed) will cost you $49.95.
