'We struggle' - Liverpool star makes Leeds United Bielsa-ball claim

Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson has made a quip about the impact of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United philosophy on Scotland training.

Liam Cooper, of course, is the United captain in the Scotland camp applying the finishing touches before Euro 2020.

Robertson is the skipper in the Scotland squad and spoke recently to BBC about the impact Cooper has had in training with his Thorp Arch education.

“I've got a lot of time for Coops,” said Robertson. “I think when he tries to play Bielsa-ball in training we struggle sometimes when he's up front and defending.”

Liverpool scraped a win over the Whites on the opening day of last season with a late penalty and then found themselves held to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road later.

Jurgen Klopp is known for his counter-pressing philosophy, but evidently little compares with the high press and high line Bielsa likes to play in West Yorkshire.

Robertson’s comment also underlines the supreme fitness of the Leeds unit and the energy associated with the football Cooper and his team-mates play.
