We simulated Watford vs Manchester United to get a score prediction for pivotal clash

Following the conclusion of the international break, Manchester United will be looking to bounce back after a poor run of results in the Premier League, as they face Watford on Saturday.

After their embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Manchester City before the international break, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the United players who were absent from international duty took a week-long break away from football, in the hope that it could lift the mounting pressure that's building in the United camp.

United face a trip to newly-promoted Watford this weekend, and the Reds will be looking for a positive result, following a run of four defeats in their last six league games.

Raphael Varane and Edison Cavani are both absent for the trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday through injury, while Paul Pogba still has one match to serve from his three-game suspension.

Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw both missed international duty through injury but should be in contention to start on Saturday, whilst Scott McTominay should also be fit after recovering from a throat infection during the international break.

After their underwhelming performance against City last time out, Solskjaer may opt to make some big changes to the squad, with Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard all pushing for starts.

So, what line-up will Solskjaer select? And, what could the final score be?

We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Watford vs United on Saturday and this is what happened...

Watford vs Manchester United score predicted by FIFA 22 simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn't select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that Watford could set up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Foster; Femenia, Cathcart, Nkoulou, Rose; Sarr, Cleverly, Sissoko, Dennis; Pedro; King.

We also predict that United could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; Greenwood, Fernandes, Sancho; Ronaldo.

After a spell of early pressure, United took the lead 10 minutes in when Cristiano Ronaldo drilled past Ben Foster.

Rashford held the ball up on the left before finding the overlapping run of Luke Shaw, and the full-back's drilled cross was hit first time by Ronaldo and through Foster to give United the lead.

Solskjaer's side weren't in front for long, though, with Watford equalising almost instantly through Joshua King.

A heavy touch from Harry Maguire saw Ismaila Sarr pick up possession and find King inside the box, and the striker made no mistake as he brushed past David de Gea to make it 1-1.

The goal against United was Watford's first attempt of the game, and United's pressure paid off once again as Ronaldo grabbed his and United's second not long after.

The Portugal international picked up the ball inside the box, made some space for himself on his right foot, and fizzed an effort into the top corner at the near post to regain the lead.

United looked like the much better team in the simulation, and Rashford made it 3-1 with just half an hour gone when he slid in at the far post to tap Mason Greenwood's scuffed shot into the net.

And right before the half-time break, Ronaldo put the game out of sight as he grabbed his third of the half.

A calamity of errors at the back for Watford saw Foster slice his clearance to Ronaldo on the edge of the box, and the striker stuck a fierce volley back at Foster's goal and into the net to make it 4-1 to United at the break.

United made three subs in the first 20 minutes of the second half with Ronaldo, Greenwood and Fernandes all making way.

The subs changed the tempo of the game as Watford found themselves getting more chances, and they got a second through Moussa Sissoko.

A failed clearance from a Watford corner saw a pinball-like scenario break loose in the United box, and Sissoko got the last touch on the ball as he swivelled and drove an effort under De Gea to make it 4-2.

FIFA 22 predicted final score: Watford 2-4 Manchester United

Here are the full-time match stats.

Full time stats from Man United 4-2 Watford in FIFA 22 (EA SPORTS FIFA)

FIFA 22 predicts that United could run riot against Watford in the first-half, but despite their strength in attack, their defence could be exposed by the Hornets with former United player Josh King and winger Ismaila Sarr both threats for Claudio Ranieri's side.
