We simulated RB Leipzig vs Tottenham to get a score prediction for Champions League clash

Tottenham Hotspur have a real battle on their hands to advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, as they go into the second leg of their last 16 clash against RB Leipzig.

Spurs trail on aggregate after losing 0-1 at home in the first leg, with Timo Werner scoring what could be a vital away goal in the tie, with Jose Mourinho's side also struggling with injuries.

Steven Bergwijn has joined the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Moussa Sissoko on the injury table, leaving Spurs short of options heading into the game.

So, what starting eleven will Mourinho go with on Tuesday evening in Germany?

And, what will the final score be?

We used FIFA 20 to predict the outcome of RB Leipzig vs Tottenham to get a score prediction ahead of the Champions League last 16 second leg.

RB Leipzig vs Tottenham on FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to legendary, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that RB Leipzig could set up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Gulacsi; Halstenberg, Upamecano, Klostermann; Mukiele, Laimer, Sabitzer, Angelino; Nkunku; Werner, Schick.

We predict that Tottenham could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: Lloris; Aurier, Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Gedson, Winks, Lo Celso; Lucas, Alli, Lamela.

FIFA 20 predicts that Tottenham's gameplan will be hugely effective in the opening 55 minutes, but the team will ultimately struggle late on.

The home side were having massive spells of possession, with Spurs soaking it up and looking to hit on the counter, using the pace of Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela.

This tactic worked brilliantly for Jose Mourinho and Spurs took the lead just before half-time. After a wonderful pass from Gedson Fernandes, Lucas Moura ran clear of the Leipzig defence and finished calmly to make it 1-0.

Here are the half-time stats for the game, showcasing just how much possession RB Leipzig had, but they did very little with it.

Early in the second-half Spurs completed the comeback on aggregate, with Dele Alli supplying a delicious cross for the onrushing Giovani Lo Celso, who powered a header into the corner to make it 2-0 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate. RB Leipzig now had to score two goals to go through, with Spurs now having the away goal advantage.

Spurs were coping well with the onslaught until the 73rd minute, when a brilliant run and cross from Timo Werner found Marcel Sabizter, who powered home from the penalty spot.

And just seven minutes before the end, intricate build-up play led to Konrad Laimer striking a powerful shot into Hugo Lloris' near post, and the Spurs captain should have done better.

Two late goals confirmed Spurs' fate, they were out of the Champions League, despite scoring two away goals.

Full-time score: RB Leipzig (3) 2-2 (2) Tottenham

Here are the full-time match stats.

Tottenham had more possession in the second-half, but Leipzig took their chances.

Gedson Fernandes had a really good game, setting up Lucas Moura's opener and looking accomplished in midfield.

But Timo Werner was undoubtedly the Man of the Match, setting up both goals to knock Spurs out of the competition.

This FIFA 20 simulation predicts that although Spurs' game plan will work early on, going two goals up, a late capitulation will see them exit the Champions League at the last 16 stage.

What do you think the score will be?
