We simulated Motherwell vs Rangers to get a score prediction as Tillman and Cantwell impress

Rangers must continue picking up wins and hope Celtic drop points as they face a trip to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

A 3-0 win over Raith Rovers secured Rangers' spot in the Scottish Cup semi-finals in their last outing, and Michael Beale's side will face Celtic in the penultimate round as they look for their first trophy of the season. They won the competition last season under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and will be desperate to retain their crown. Rangers are yet to beat Celtic this season, with the Light Blues currently trailing the Hoops by nine points in the league, despite winning their last eight league games in a row.

Rangers are actually yet to lose in the league under Beale this season, but Celtic have been just as impressive in that time, with the nine-point gap yet to be touched. The Gers have faced Motherwell twice already this season, winning 3-0 at the Ibrox and 2-1 away.

So, can Rangers keep up with Celtic with three points on Saturday? We used FIFA 23 to try and predict the score, and this is what happened.

Motherwell vs Rangers score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Rangers squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We expect that Rangers could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Devine; Lundstram Jack, Cantwell, Tillman, Kent; Colak.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Kelly; McGinn, Butcher, Casey; Johnston, Slattery, Goss, Furlong; Spittal; Obika, Van Veen.

After an early scare that saw Motherwell hit the post after 73 seconds, Rangers took control, with Malik Tillman and Todd Cantwell both causing havoc around the host's box. The duo were linking up well and creating some dangerous chances, and they both played a big role in the Light Blues taking an early lead.

Cutting in from the right, Cantwell breezed through the Steelmen's midfield before playing a one-two with Ryan Kent and bursting down the left. The Englishman flashed a ball across goal, and Tillman was on hand to fire past the 'keeper with a first-time finish and make it 1-0.

Cantwell then had a glorious chance of his own to make it 2-0 when he was sent through one-on-one with the 'keeper, but his shot didn't have enough power to carry it over the line, and his effort was cleared. A goal down, the hosts were struggling to find a way back into the game, and Rangers took advantage as they doubled their lead in the 71st minute.

A one-two in midfield saw Cantwell and Tillman link up again, and it was the latter who spotted the run of Kent with a fantastic through ball. The winger cut inside, and from close range he buried his strike in at the near post to confirm the win for Beale's men.

FIFA 23 predicted score: Motherwell 0-2 Rangers

Here are the full-time match stats.

FIFA 23 predicts that Rangers could ease their way past Motherwell, winning 2-0 in the simulation. The hosts rarely threatened the Rangers goal, whilst Beale's side were unlucky not to score more.
