We simulated Manchester United vs Tottenham to get a score prediction for Amazon Prime clash

Tottenham take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening, with Jose Mourinho returning to the home of his former club for the first time since his sacking last December.

Mourinho's side will be hoping to extend their winning run under the Portuguese manager, with Spurs winning all three games since his shock appointment.

So, how will Mourinho's side fair against his former club at Old Trafford?

And, what will the final score be?

We used FIFA 20 to predict the outcome of Manchester United vs Tottenham ahead of their midweek Premier League clash.

Manchester United vs Tottenham on FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict Manchester United could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the line-up as follows: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Fred; James, Lingard, Rashford; Martial.

We predict Tottenham could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the line-up as follows: Gazzaniga; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Dier, Sissoko; Lucas, Alli, Son; Kane.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

What we saw in the first-half was a classic Mourinho top six away performance, with Tottenham sitting really deep and allowing United to have the ball for long periods.

And it was working perfectly, with United unable to break down Mourinho's side, but Spurs weren't doing much going forwards.

Here are the half-time stats, which shows exactly what Mourinho's gameplan was.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

In the second-half, Tottenham were slightly more progressive, with Dele Alli pushing up to play just behind Harry Kane.

And it was a bit of magic from the English midfielder that shocked Old Trafford, as Spurs took the lead in the 51st minute.

Alli found a yard of space just outside the United area, and when the ball was played into his feet from midfield, the midfielder produced a clever backheel flick directed straight into the path of Harry Kane.

Kane ran onto Alli's flick and finished past David De Gea, although the Spaniard did get a hand to it.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

That goal meant Spurs went back into their defensive shape, as they were more than happy to defend their one goal lead.

With twenty minutes to go, just when it was looking like Mourinho was going to get one over on his former club, Anthony Martial equalised for United, but it was very fortunate.

The Frenchman received the ball from Scott McTominay in midfield, before driving forward, dribbling past Davinson Sanchez and taking a shot at goal that looked too weak to trouble Gazzaniga, but the Argentine could only parry it upwards and into his own net.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

The final 15 minutes saw very little in terms of goalmouth action, with Spurs sitting back and protecting their point, as United struggled to break them down.

And, that's how it finished.

Full-time score: Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham

Here are the full-time match stats.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

Spurs' goal was their only shot in the entire game, now that's what you call clinical!

Dele Alli was Spurs' best player, setting up Kane's goal with another brilliant piece of skill, just as he did against West Ham a few weeks ago.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

This FIFA 20 simulation predicts that the game will end in a draw, with Spurs employing a defensive gameplan that will frustrate United.

What do you think the score will be?
