We simulated Manchester City vs Chelsea to get a score prediction for Premier League clash

Chelsea travel to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday to take on Premier League champions Manchester City, as they look to secure their seventh successive Premier League win on Saturday, in what will likely be one of their toughest games of the season.

There were injury worries about American winger Christian Pulisic, who is likely to start on the bench, with Mason Mount on the left of attack, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and N'Golo Kante in midfield.

For City, Fernandinho is likely to play in central defence alongside John Stones, with David Silva returning to the starting lineup, but Bernardo Silva will have to serve a one match ban against the Blues.

So, what will the final score be against City?

And, what XI will Frank Lampard go for against Pep Guardiola's side?

We used FIFA 20 to predict the outcome of this midweek Champions League clash.

Manchester City vs Chelsea simulated on FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Man City could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Fernandinho, Mendy; Rodri, De Bruyne, David Silva; Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling.

We predict that Chelsea could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Abraham, Mount.

Man City started the game with real tempo and created two great chances in quick succession.

First, Kevin De Bruyne unleashed a powerful long-range effort from just outside the area, but Kepa did well to turn it around the post.

From the resulting corner, the ball found its way to Riyad Mahrez, who cut inside and aimed for the near post, but Kepa was equal to it once again.

After a frantic first fifteen minutes, the game settled down, with both sides having long spells of possession, without really doing anything with it.

As the game approached half-time, it was Chelsea who looked stronger and were playing some great football.

Just before the end of the half, the away side got the goal that their performance deserved.

On the counter, Willian ran down the right and played a cross into the feet of Kante, who produced a backheel flick into the path of Kovacic, who then powered home.

The Croatian made sure to celebrate infront of the TV cameras.

In the second-half, City came on strong in search of an equaliser, but the away side were holding firm in defence, having changed their tactics slightly to try and stop Guardiolal's side.

Then in the 72nd minute, a big call by Guardiola, as Phil Foden replaced David Silva in midfield.

And, just two minutes later, City had their equaliser.

Foden beat a few Chelsea defenders before firing a tame effort at Kepa, but he could only palm it into the path of Aguero just inside the six-yard box, who tapped home.

Guardiola's side were going all out for the win now, and eight minutes later they made it 2-1.

Aguero dropped into space just outside the area, before laying the ball off to De Bruyne, who unleashed an unstoppable effort into the far post from long-range.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

Cue the celebrations.

City managed to add a third before the end, with Aguero getting his second goal of the game in 89th minute, with the scoreline now looking harsh on Lampard's side.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

Chelsea played well, but three late goals by City meant the Blues left with nothing.

Full-time score: Man City 3-1 Chelsea

Here are the full-time match stats.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

Chelsea had loads of possession at the Etihad, with City just shading it overall.

FIFA 20 predicts that Frank Lampard's side will put in a great performance away at City, even going ahead early on, but late goals will settle this one in favour of City, with Aguero and De Bruyne doing the damage.
