We simulated Man United vs West Ham to get a score prediction for FA Cup clash

Just three days after their 3-3 draw against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday, Manchester United host West Ham United at Old Trafford in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

United are likely to rotate their squad for the visit of David Moyes' side, with Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly, Alex Telles, Donny van de Beek, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Axel Tuanzebe, Anthony Martial and others all pushing for starts on Tuesday evening.

However Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will be without midfielder Paul Pogba, who suffered a thigh injury against Everton and will be missing for the next few weeks.

For the Hammers, on loan United midfielder Jesse Lingard is ineligible to play against his parent club, whilst Michail Antonio is doubtful due to fatigue.

So, what line up will Solskjaer go with against the Hammers? And, what will the final score be?

Ahead of the game, we used FIFA 21 to get a score prediction. This is what the game predicts.

Man United vs West Ham score predicted using FIFA 21

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 21 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Manchester United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw; Fernandes, McTominay, Van de Beek, Greenwood, Cavani, Rashford.

We predict that West Ham could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Fabianski; Coufal, Dawson, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice; Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma; Antonio.

Although the Reds were dominating possession in the first-half of our FIFA 21 simulation, the Hammers were actually the more dangerous of the two sides, with Moyes' men finding real joy on the counter-attack and at set pieces.

And just before the half-hour mark, the away side took the lead. Jarrod Bowen found some space on the right on the counter, cut inside and threaded a pass through to Pablo Fornals, who got to the ball ahead of Bailly and produced a cool finish past Dean Henderson.

That was about the end of the Hammers as an attacking force, who proceeded to sit back and look to preserve their lead, not having another shot on goal throughout the entire match.

But that plan didn't work, with United eventually grabbing an equaliser with just under 20 minutes remaining through Donny van de Beek. Marcus Rashford beat Coufal on the byline before squaring for the midfielder, who smashed home from a few yards out.

The comeback was complete just minutes later, with Bruno Fernandes finishing off another Rashford cut-back nine minutes from time.

There was even time for United to score a third in injury time, with Mason Greenwood sliding in to guide his shot into the near-post.

FIFA 21 predicts that West Ham could provide a real threat on the counter-attack and at set pieces on Tuesday, but United should have the attacking firepower to advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
