We simulated Man City vs Tottenham to get a score prediction for Saturday's Premier League clash

Tottenham got their 2019/20 Premier League campaign off to a winning start against Aston Villa last weekend, but it was by no means an easy three points.

A first-half goal by John McGinn put the away side in front in the first-half, before second-half strikes from new signing Tanguy Ndombele and two from Harry Kane late on sealed the win for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

However, it doesn't get any easy for Spurs, as they face Premier League champions Man City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

The likes of Dele Alli, Heung-Min Son, Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon have all been ruled out of the game, while there are still question marks over Jan Vertonghen, after he was completely left out of the squad against Villa.

So, who will make it into Pochettino's first XI against City? And, what will the final score be?

We used FIFA 19 to predict the outcome of Saturday evening's fixture.

Man City vs Tottenham on FIFA 19

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions. Obviously, as we're still using FIFA 19 for the time being, the kits aren't updated, so please use your imagination.

We predict that Man City will set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Zinchenko; Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva; Mahrez, Sterling, Aguero.

We predict that Tottenham will set up in a 4-3-2-1 formation, with the line-up as follows: Lloris; Walker-Peters, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko; Eriksen; Lucas Moura, Kane.

Man City dominated the opening stages, picking up from where they left off against West Ham.

Spurs were struggling to deal with City's passing and movement and there were multiple opportunities for the home side to take the lead.

First, Kevin De Bruyne was played in by Raheem Sterling, after cutting inside from the left, but Hugo Lloris pulled off a great save.

Then, the Belgian returned the favour for Sterling, who could only shoot directly at Lloris, as another chance went begging.

Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva also went close from just outside the box, it looked a matter of time before the deadlock was broken.

But, when the half-time whistle went, it remained goalless.

In the second-half, Spurs looked a different side and were having good periods of possession themselves, without making any real chances of note, until the 62nd minute.

A Spurs corner from the right found Harry Kane unmarked, but Ederson did well to tip it around the post.

This seemed to spark City back in to life, as did the introduction of David Silva, as they pushed forward in search of a winner.

In the 74th minute, the breakthrough came.

Silva played a magnificent one-two with Sterling inside the box, with the Spaniard attempting a first time shot that flew past Lloris and into the net.

The last 15 minutes of the game was not well managed by City, as Spurs had the majority of the possession, but they just couldn't quite find that final pass or that final chance.

That's how it finished.

Full-time score: Man City 1-0 Spurs

Here are the full-time match stats.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

City had slightly more possession, with Spurs having a lot of the ball in the second-half, but couldn't make it count.

This was largely due to the poor performance of Christian Eriksen, who wasn't at his best.

Vertonghen was Spurs' best player on his return to the squad.

FIFA 19's simulation predicts that Spurs will prove to be a difficult opponent for City in what will be an incredibly tight game on Saturday.
