We simulated Man City vs Chelsea in FIFA 20 to get a score prediction

Manchester City will be hoping to put pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool with a win this weekend, but face a tough test against Frank Lampard's Chelsea, who actually sit above them in the league table at the moment.

Fernandinho is likely to start at central defence once again, with Rodri and David Silva starting in midfield.

City will be without Bernardo Silva against the Blues, who is serving a one-match ban, with Riyad Mahrez likely to deputise in the Portugal midfielder's absence.

So, what will the final score be at the Etihad?

We used FIFA 20 to predict the outcome of Man City vs Chelsea - for a bit of fun.

Manchester City vs Chelsea simulated on FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Man City could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Fernandinho, Mendy; Rodri, De Bruyne, David Silva; Mahrez, Aguero, Sterling.

We predict that Chelsea could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Emerson; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Abraham, Mount.

Man City started the game with real tempo and created two great chances in quick succession.

First, Kevin De Bruyne unleashed a powerful long-range effort from just outside the area, but Kepa did well to turn it around the post.

From the resulting corner, the ball found its way to Riyad Mahrez, who cut inside and aimed for the near post, but Kepa was equal to it once again.

After a frantic first 15 minutes, the game settled down, with both sides having long spells of possession, without really doing anything with it.

As the game approached half-time, it was Chelsea who looked stronger and were playing some great football.

Just before the end of the half, the away side shocked the Etihad by taking the lead.

On the counter, Willian ran down the right and played a cross into the feet of Kante, who produced a backheel flick into the path of Kovacic, who then powered home.

In the second-half, City came on strong in search of an equaliser, but the away side were holding firm in defence, having changed their gameplan to a more defensive one.

Then in the 72nd minute, a big call by Guardiola, as Phil Foden replaced David Silva in midfield.

And, just two minutes later, City had their equaliser.

Foden beat a few Chelsea defenders before firing a tame effort at Kepa, but he could only palm it into the path of Aguero just inside the six-yard box, who tapped home from close range.

A vital goal for City.

Guardiola's side were going all out for the win now, and eight minutes later they made it 2-1.

Aguero dropped into space just outside the area, before laying the ball off to De Bruyne, who unleashed an unstoppable effort into the far post from long-range.

Cue the celebrations.

City even managed to add a third before the end, with Aguero getting his second goal of the game in 89th minute to finish the game off.

They made it hard for themselves, but despite going behind, City claimed an important three points.
