We simulated Livingston vs Rangers as Michael Beale's men show powers of recovery once again

Rangers will be looking to try and stay close to title rivals Celtic on Saturday afternoon when they face Livingston.

Despite Rangers winning nine and drawing just one of their last 10 Scottish Premiership games, the gap between themselves and Celtic remains at nine points, with the Hoops also finding it difficult to be beaten. All Michael Beale's side can do is keep winning games and hoping that the Hoops drop points, and the Light Blues have the chance to make it nine wins in a row in all competitions when they face David Martindale's Lions later today.

The Ibrox men enter the clash on the back of a 3-2 win over Patrick Thistle in the Scottish Cup, with the victory booking Rangers' spot in the quarter-finals against Raith Rovers. Beale's side have met Livingston once already this season, with the West Lothian outfit holding the Light Blues to a 1-1 draw at the Ibrox in October.

So, could Rangers continue their winning run on Saturday? We used FIFA 23 to try and predict the score, and this is what happened.

Livingston vs Rangers score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Rangers squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We expect that Rangers could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Raskin, Kamara; Cantwell, Tillman, Kent; Morelos.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: George; Devlin, Fitzwater, Boyes, Penrice; Kelly, Kelly, Pittman; Bradley, Anderson, Nouble.

Rangers got off to the worst start possible as Livingston went ahead against the run of play, with Stephen Kelly managing to scramble the ball across the line from close range after nine minutes. The Gers failed to respond until the second half, where James Tavernier pulled his side level with an unbelievable strike.

As Beale's camped around the edge of the Livingston box, the ball fell to Tavernier outside the area. The defender wasn't closed down after skipping past one challenge, and with the outside of his right foot, he curled a powerful strike into the top corner of the net to make it 1-1.

Todd Cantwell was having a fantastic game and found himself unlucky to not have a goal to his name after hitting the post twice in the space of four minutes following the goal. Rangers got more desperate as the game went on, but they managed to take a deserved lead after 87 minutes when two substitutes combined.

After cutting in from the left, Cantwell found Antonio Colak in the box who carried the ball to the byline. The striker drilled a pass across the box to Fashion Sakala at the back post, and the forward was left the simple task of tapping into an empty net to confirm the three points.
