We simulated Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur as striker scores twice

Liverpool turn their focus back to the Premier League title race with a tricky game against Tottenham up next at Anfield.

The Reds come into the game fresh from reaching the Champions League final following a 5-2 aggregate win over Villarreal after a testing second leg in Spain. Jurgen Klopp's side will end the season with a chance of redemption against Real Madrid in Paris after the Spanish giants knocked out Manchester City in the other semi-final.

Liverpool remain a point behind City in the Premier League and face a strong Tottenham side with Antonio Conte's side still fighting for Champions League football. Roberto Firmino is expected to be available for the game against Spurs after the Brazilian was pictured in first team training this week.

So, what line-ups will both teams select? And, what could the final score be? We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Liverpool versus Spurs on Saturday and this is what happened...

Liverpool v Tottenham score predicted by simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn't select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago; Salah, Mane, Diaz.

We predict that Spurs could set up in a 3-4-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Royal, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Sessegnon; Kulusevski, Kane, Son.

Liverpool started slowly and found themselves a goal down early on after a rare mistake at the back allowed Harry Kane to play in substitute Lucas Moura, who replaced Kulusevski after the Swede picked up an injury, who placed the ball past Alisson to put Spurs 1-0 up. A loose pass from Thiago was intercepted by Kane before the ball fell to the feet of Lucas who made no mistake from close range.

Liverpool struggled to find a rhythm in the first half and came under serious pressure from Spurs as the visitors looked to double their lead, but Sadio Mane stepped up and found an equaliser for the Reds on the stroke of half time. Mane played a smart one-two with Luis Diaz before firing the ball past Lloris into the back of the net and levelling the score heading into the second half.

Liverpool increased the tempo and were the dominant side in the game throughout the second half, limiting Spurs to just a few chances on goal as Klopp's side searched for a second goal. Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino replaced Luis Diaz and Jordan Henderson as Klopp looked to his bench in the hope of finding a winner as time ticked away.

Mane doubled his and Liverpool's tally for the game with just three minutes left to play as the Senegalese striker whipped the ball into the back of the net from close range. Mohamed Salah kept the attacking move alive after using his pace to keep the ball in play before cutting the ball back to Mane on the edge of the six yard box as the Senegal international lashed the ball home to make it 2-1 in front of the Kop.

Liverpool were able to see the game out and hold onto their 2-1 lead to take all three points at Anfield after a tough game and keep the pressure on Man City in the title race. The Reds kept their momentum heading into their next fixture against Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa side.
