We simulated Liverpool vs Arsenal on FIFA 20 to get a Carabao Cup score prediction

After a week full of speculation, controversy and tantrums, the show must go on for Unai Emery and Arsenal, as they take on Premier League leaders Liverpool in the Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Both teams are likely to make significant changes to their starting lineups for this game, which could see a number of young players and fringe players given a chance to impress, with the likes of Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira, Joe Willock, Mesut Ozil and Gabriel Martinelli all in contention to start against the Reds.

So, what XI will Emery go with against the Reds?

What will the final score be at Anfield?

We used FIFA 20 to predict the outcome of Arsenal's midweek clash with Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Arsenal score predicted using FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode within FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest transfers, injuries and suspensions.

We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with a much-changed team, with the line-up as follows: Kelleher; Milner, Gomez, Lovren, Lewis; Lallana, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Jones, Origi, Brewster.

We predict that Arsenal could set up in a 4-3-1-2 formation, with the line-up as follows: Martinez; Bellerin, Holding, Sokratis, Kolasinac; Torreira, Willock, Guendouzi; Ozil; Pepe, Martinelli.

Although both teams are likely to rotate for this game, Arsenal should be on paper the team with the most quality on the pitch, and it certainly proved that way in our simulation.

The Gunners dominated the game, not necessarily with possession, but with the chances they created and their threat during the game.

Unai Emery's side took just 18 minutes to take the lead, with Nicolas Pepe beating Dejan Lovren in a 1v1, before firing past Caoimhín Kelleher at his near post to make it 1-0.

A great goal from Arsenal's record signing, who is yet to get a realistic face on FIFA 20.

And, the away side could have gone two up just before the half-time whistle blew, but Kelleher pulled off a magnificent save to deny Pepe from an almost identical postition.

In the second-half, it was much the same story, with Liverpool having loads of possession in the middile of the pitch, but Arsenal looking very strong when they won the ball.

But, they couldn't grab that second goal.

Matteo Guendouzi went close in the 78th minute, with his rasping shot being turned onto the crossbar by Kelleher, in what was another great save.

In the end though, Emery's side didn't need a second goal, as they advanced to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Full-time score: Liverpool 0-1 Arsenal

Here are the full-time match stats.

(EA SPORTS FIFA)

Liverpool have much more of the ball, but Arsenal had the much bigger threat.

Nicolas Pepe was sensational for the Gunners, scoring their only goal and proving a real handful all evening.

This FIFA 20 simulation predicts that Arsenal will get the better of Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, with Pepe making the difference.

What do you think the score will be?
