We simulated Liverpool v Manchester City to get a score prediction

Manchester City travel to Anfield on Sunday afternoon to face Premier League leaders Liverpool, as Pep Guardiola's side look to continue their fine domestic form.

City head into the game on Sunday on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Guardiola expressed his happiness about the prospect of facing against Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool in a packed Anfield again, after City ended an 18-year wait to win at Anfield in February when they ran out 4-1 winners in a fixture played behind closed doors.

City's rivalry against Liverpool has escalated in recent years after both clubs pushed each other to spectacular performance levels, and Sunday is yet another huge opportunity for both sides to gain an advantage in the league season.

So, what line-ups will both teams select? And, what could the final score be?

We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Liverpool v Manchester City on Sunday and this is what happened...

Liverpool v Manchester City score predicted by FIFA 22 simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn't select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that City could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, De Bruyne, Silva; Jesus, Sterling, Foden.

We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Alisson; Milner, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Jones; Salah, Jota, Mane.

Liverpool started the game in explosive fashion, something City are used to dealing with when playing at Anfield, with Mane linking up with Jota and Salah, before firing the ball just past the post as an early warning to the visitors.

City did well to hold off the early pressure from Liverpool and were able to control possession midway through the first half, patiently picking off Liverpool to create chances for the front three of Foden, Sterling and Jesus.

City's pressure resulted in a flurry of corners at the Kop end, but quickly resulted with Salah and Jota breaking on the counter-attack at speed as Curtis Jones struck the ball from distance, hitting the crossbar, leaving Ederson stranded breathing a sigh of relief as the ball bounced behind for a goal kick.

City responded by striking the bar themselves after De Bruyne played through Jesus, before the Brazilian smashed the ball towards the top corner, only for it to rebound back into play off of the woodwork.

With the score still level after the 50-minute mark, Jurgen Klopp decided it was time for a change in attack, swapping out Jota for Firmino, after the Portuguese attacker struggled to make an impact during his time on the pitch.

Pep Guardiola responded to this change with one of his own, replacing with Mahrez, whilst Klopp then replaced a tiring Jones with Naby Keita to freshen things up in midfield.

It was the substitute Firmino who opened the scoring on the hour mark, after the Brazilian nicked the ball off of Dias who was slow to release the ball, before firing past his fellow national teammate Ederson to put the Reds 1-0 up.

City fought back through Sterling who had two great chances to equalise for the visitors but was denied both times by Alisson in the Liverpool net.

But, it was the substitute, Firmino, again who made it 2-0 as he tucked the ball into the bottom corner following a flicked header from Mane at the near post after some great initial work from Robertson to break down the left and whip the ball into the box.

City responded by bringing on British record signing Jack Grealish, as he immediately threatened down the left, beating Milner on multiple occasions as the Reds came under a period of pressure following the second goal.

City pulled a goal back through Sterling, after De Bruyne broke down the right wing and pulled the ball back to Sterling on the penalty spot, with the 26-year-old volleyed the ball home to make it 2-1 with just 10 minutes to go.

City continued to put the home side under pressure in the final moments of the game, with Grealish, Sterling and Mahrez all threatening late on to find an equaliser.

Firmino sealed the win and his hat-trick in stoppage time as he nipped in ahead of both Ederson and Cancelo, as he nodded in his third goal of the game.

City's dismal display at Anfield cost them ground in the hunt for a second consecutive Premier League title, as league leaders Liverpool extended their advantage over the Blues to four points

FIFA 22 predicted final score: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester City

Here are the full-time match stats.

FIFA 22 predicts that City will fall short at Anfield and lose 3-1, as their performance fell below expectations as they struggled to cope with the pressure put on them by Liverpool.

A positive to take from the game would be the performance of Raheem Sterling who threatened throughout the game but was only able to convert his chances on one occasion.
