We simulated Leeds United vs Charlton Athletic to get a score prediction

After a superb 2019/20 Championship campaign, in which they've already been crowned champions of the division, Leeds United will end their season with a game against Charlton Athletic at Elland Road on Wednesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa will be without defender Gaetano Berardi, Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw through injury against the Addicks, with Jamie Shackleton, Pascal Struijk, Helder Costa, Jack Harrison and Pablo Hernandez all pushing for a place in the first eleven.

So, what team with boss Marcelo Bielsa go with against Charlton Athletic? And, what will the final score be?

Well, we used FIFA 20 to try and find out, ahead of Leeds' last game of the 2019/20 season.

Leeds United vs Charlton Athletic score predicted by FIFA 20

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode on FIFA 20 but didn't select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to legendary, with the lineup updated with the latest injuries and suspensions, to make sure it was as realistic as possible.

We predict that Leeds United could set up in a 4-1-4-1 formation, with the lineup as follows: Meslier; Ayling, White, Cooper, Dallas; Struijk; Harrison, Klich, Roberts, Alioski; Bamford.

We predict that Charlton Athletic could set up in a 5-3-2 formation, with their lineup as follows: Phillips; Matthews, Lockyer, Pearce, Sarr, Doughty; Morgan, Field, Cullen; Bonne, Aneke.

In the first-half of this simulation, Leeds were dominant in possession but were struggling to create chances against a Charlton back five, with the away side sitting back and trying to compress the pitch as much as possible.

This resulted in quite a boring first-half, with little action to speak of. But, Bielsa's side emerged with renewed vigour in the second-half and it took just three minutes for the home side to score the opening goal, through midfielder Mateusz Klich.

Klich recieved the ball just outside the area and let fly, with his shot arrowing into the bottom corner, giving Phillips no chance of saving it. A great strike.

Leeds were on a roll now and doubled their lead in the 55th minute, with Patrick Bamford producing a good finish from just inside the area, after some lovely build-up play.

Bielsa's side continued to dominate and create chances but had to settle for just the two goals in this game. Nevertheless, Leeds finished their campaign with yet another win.

FIFA 20 predicted full-time score: Leeds United 2-0 Charlton

Here are the full-time match stats.

In what has been a common pattern throughout the 2019/20 campaign, Leeds United dominated their opponent in terms of possession and chances created, whilst also remaining solid at the back.

FIFA 20 predicts that Leeds United will end their 2019/20 Championship campaign with yet another win, this time against Charlton Athletic, with Klich and Bamford scoring in a 2-0 home win.

What do you make of our FIFA 20 score prediction?

As always, this is just a bit of fun ahead of this midweek Championship game for Leeds United.
