We simulated Kilmarnock vs Rangers to get a score prediction with nine goals and dramatic ending

Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action on Wednesday night when Michael Beale's side faces Kilmarnock at Rugby park.

After a long spell on the sidelines, Kemar Roofe scored his first goal since returning to the Ibrox squad, with his strike coming in extra time to win Rangers' Viaplay semi-final clash against Aberdeen 2-1. Unfortunately, the striker was subbed off with a new injury, and he won't be part of the travelling squad for Wednesday.

The victory means the Light Blues will face Celtic in the final at Hampden Park in February after the Hoops beat Kilmarnock in the other semi-final clash. The Gers have won their last four consecutive meetings against Killie without conceding, the latest a 2-0 win at the beginning of the season.

So, could Rangers keep on the trail of league leaders Celtic on Wednesday night? We used FIFA 23 to try and predict the score, and this is what happened.

Kilmarnock vs Rangers score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Rangers squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We expect that Rangers could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: McGregor, Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Kamara, Lundstram; Fashion, Tillman, Kent; Morelos.

We predict that the Killie could set up in a 3-5-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: Walker; Wright, Taylor, Stokes; Armstrong, Donnelly, Power, McKenzie, Chrisene; Lafferty, Vassell.

Four minutes in, Rangers took the lead when John Lundstram rifled an effort into the bottom corner from outside the box in spectacular fashion. It was the ideal start for Michael Beale's side, and they made it 2-0 after 11 minutes as Glen Kamara got on the scoresheet.

As Ryan Kent picked up the ball on the left, he spotted the untracked run of Kamara through the middle, and after the midfielder took the ball into his stride, he fired across goal and into the far corner of the net. Rangers looked dangerous whenever they went forward, and they made it 3-0 just before half-time when Alfredo Morelos' saved shot fell into the path of Kent to prod home.

As the second half began, Killie put on the pressure and pulled a goal back when Kyle Vassell held off Ben Davies and fired through the legs of Allan McGregor. But, only 10 minutes later, Rangers grabbed a fourth.

Malik Tillman picked up possession on the edge of the box before twisting past his marker and threading a lovely through ball into the path of Morelos. On his left foot, the striker arrowed a powerful strike past the 'keeper at the near post to make it 4-1.

Rangers looked in control, but against the run of play the Light Blues gave up their lead, with Vassell, Benjamin Chrisene and Ash Taylor all scoring in the space of nine minutes to make it 4-4, the latter scoring in the 92nd minute for what sure looked to be the equaliser for Kilmarnock. But, with the last attack of the game, Rangers confirmed a dramatic three points as Morelos fired home in the 96th minute.

A long ball forward into the box was headed clear by Killie but only as far as Kamara who drilled a pass into the feet of Morelos. His first touch bobbled into the air, but the Colombian then volleyed an effort into the roof of the net, flying past the 'keeper to make it 5-4.

FIFA 23 predicted score: Kilmarnock 4-5 Rangers

Here are the full-time match stats.

FT stats from Kilmarnock 4-5 Rangers on FIFA 23 (EA SPORTS FIFA)

FIFA 23 predicts that Rangers could emerge victorious in a classic between Kilmarnock and Rangers, with Beale's side winning 5-4 thanks to a last-minute Morelos goal. The Gers were horrendous at the back at times during the simulation, with the late winner saving the Light Blues from embarrassment after sacrificing a 4-1 lead.
