With the close of the European transfer windows, transfer season is officially over, but that hasn't stopped speculation about what could happen next summer.
Liverpool were linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz last month, who would have reportedly cost around £91 million, but the deal never materialised.
The young German midfielder is one of the most exciting talents in Europe, having scored 17 goals in the Bundesliga in 2018/19.
However, the 20-year-old has today opened the door to a possible move next summer.
"They haven't scared me off," Havertz told Sky in Germany via Bulinews.com .
"I don't know exactly what it was like with Timo [Werner], but it just didn't happen for me this year. I think there were a number of reasons why.
"But I'm happy to be here and stay in Leverkusen for another year. We'll see what will happens next summer."
So, if Havertz did move to Liverpool, what kind of impact could he have on the squad?
And, would he replace any of Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson or Gini Wijnaldum?
We used Football Manager 2019 to have a bit of fun and see what would have happened if Liverpool had managed to sign Havertz this summer.

Here's what happened....
Kai Havertz's 2019/20 season for Liverpool
Here's Havertz's Liverpool season in more detail.

Havertz immediately established himself as a regular in the Liverpool first team, making 49 appearances in all competitions in 2019/20.
The 20-year-old was more of a provider than a goal scorer for the Reds, scoring four goals and registering seven assists in all competitions.
In fact, this assist figure should have been much higher, as the German created 71 chances throughout the season, with only Salah and Firmino creating more.

The midfielder was deployed mostly as a central midfield player, but actually produced his best performances as a number 10, his favoured position.

Overall, it was a great season for a player who is so young.

The added creativity of Havertz resulted in an astonishing number of goals for the Reds front three, with Salah, Firmino and Mane scoring 73 goals between them in all compeitions.
Liverpool's best XI in 2019/20

Havertz was included in Liverpool's best XI in 2019/20, alongside captain Jordan Henderson in the centre of midfield.

Liverpool's 2019/20 league position: 1st

The signing of Havertz was enough for Liverpool to overtake Manchester City and become Premier League champions in 2019/20, winning 93 points.
Salah finished as the Premier League's top marksman too.

Liverpool had the best defensive record in the league.

But, only the joint-second best goal record.

Champions League performance in 2019/20
Havertz's Liverpool reached the Champions League final for the third season in a row, but they would face a familiar foe, looking for revenge.
Just like in 2018/19, Liverpool faced Spurs in the final and Salah even scored early yet again, but Spurs would have their revenge.
Harry Kane scored twice, including an 86th minute winner.
Havertz started and performed well, but couldn't lead Liverpool to another European trophy.

Cup competitions performance in 2019/20
Spurs also denied Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, with the Reds also going out of the FA Cup in the third round to Chelsea.

But, the most important thing is that they won the Premier League, which represents an extraordinary season for Havertz and Liverpool.
Football Manager 2019 predicts that if Liverpool had have signed Havertz for £91 million this summer, he could have led them to the Premier League title, by injecting that extra bit of creativity into the Reds midfield.
Could he be a target next summer?
Football Manager 2019 says that he should be.
