'We’re watching you' say police after officers seize cannabis plants in Chilwell house raid

Officers forced their way into a property to find bags of cannabis inside. The Beeston Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by response colleagues, executed a warrant at an address in Charles Avenue, in Chilwell, shortly after 9am on Tuesday (December 13).

Bags of cannabis, as well as cannabis plants, were found and seized within the three-bedroom semi-detached house. More plants were found in an outbuilding - and growing equipment was taken apart. No arrests have been and the police investigation continues.

Sergeant Heather Harding, of the Beeston Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Cracking down on the illegal supply of drugs is one of our local policing priorities and the execution of warrants, such as this one, shows we will act on intelligence and take robust action to disrupt criminal activity if there is any suspicion of drugs offences being committed.

“Our message to anyone involved in the illegal supply of drugs is very clear: we’re watching you and it could be you next. We will continue to review every piece of information we receive from the public for opportunities to take positive action to tackle this issue.

"The support of and help of the local community is vital to our ongoing work and I would encourage people to let us know about any suspicious or unusual activity in their area so that we can target criminal or antisocial behaviour.”

Anyone with concerns or who may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
