'We're waiting for the doctor', Eddie Howe could be back against Arsenal says Jason Tindall

Newcastle United's stand-in coach Jason Tindall says that Eddie Howe could yet make a reappearance in the dugout at Arsenal.

Speaking after the game Tindall indicated that United were waiting on a call from the club doctor.

NHS guidelines stipulate that any positive Covid test requires a 10-day isolation period.

Tindall said: "Hopefully we can have Ed back before the Arsenal game.

"We’re just waiting on the doctor for that.

"That’s a little bit out of our hands and control.

"Ed will be a big influence on how we prepare."

Tindall took charge of the 3-3 draw against Brentford at St James' Park in what was a see-saw contest.

Newcastle's incoming coach and former Bournemouth star Tindall also reflected on the game and said: "Obviously, it wasn’t the result we wanted.

"We wanted to win the game, and set up to win the game.

"I think there were a lot of positives to take from the performance though, especially from an attacking perspective and a physical perspective.

"We asked the group to play with a real intensity and to play on the front foot, and to attack and try to create chances. I think when you look back, the team had 23 shots on goal and nine shots on target, compared to Brentford’s four (on target).

"I think there were a lot of positives to take, but we’ve obviously conceded three goals and we were disappointed with them.

"We’ll back at those collectively and individually, and we’ll need to put them right on the training ground."
