The investigation into the assassination of conservative speaker Charlie Kirk has significantly broadened, with the FBI now scrutinizing numerous individuals who communicated with the alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, in online chatrooms. FBI Director Kash Patel revealed that the bureau is actively pursuing leads involving more than the initial 20 users believed to be in the same chatroom as Robinson.
During a Senate hearing, Patel addressed Senator John Kennedy’s, R-La., direct inquiry about whether Robinson acted alone. “Yes, sir,” Patel confirmed, indicating that others could indeed be involved, according to Fox. This statement underscores the deepening scope of the investigation, which is moving beyond a single perpetrator.
Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., pressed Patel on the specifics of the Discord server where the alleged assassin reportedly interacted with others before the attack. Hawley referenced public reports suggesting as many as 20 additional users were on the thread, asking if the FBI was “running them all down” to ascertain who else was involved and what they might have known. Patel’s response was emphatic: “It’s a lot more than that, and we’re running them all down.” This suggests that the number of individuals under scrutiny is considerably higher than initially reported.
The FBI director wants more arrests
The FBI has confirmed that legal processes have been served on Discord, and agents are meticulously examining the digital footprint left within the chatroom. Patel described it as an online “gaming chat room” but stressed that the FBI is treating all users involved with the utmost urgency.
“We’re also going to be investigating anyone and everyone involved in that Discord chat,” Patel stated. This signals a comprehensive approach to identifying potential accomplices or individuals with knowledge of the planned attack.

Reports indicate that the chat discussions may have touched upon ideological motivations, potentially including encouragement or foreknowledge of the assassination. Patel highlighted the importance of these communications, noting, “Those closest to the suspect are going to hopefully know the most about the suspect and his beliefs and his ideology. We’re continuing to do that.”
In response to Senator Hawley’s query about whether Kirk’s assassination is part of a larger pattern of anti-Christian violence, Patel affirmed that the FBI is conducting a thorough investigation into “Charlie’s assassination fully and completely and running out every lead related to any allegation of broader violence.”
While Patel did not name specific individuals, he confirmed that numerous people are currently being interrogated, and the FBI is actively pursuing additional suspects connected to the same online chatroom. Keep in mind that this comes after Patel did an awful job handling the Kirk assassination, which is why he’s being questioned in the first place.
