'We're on the up' - Harry Brockbank's first words after signing new Bolton Wanderers contract

Harry Brockbank believes that Bolton Wanderers are a club on the rise and the focus is now on achieving promotion out of League One after signing a new contract at the club.

The 22-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a fresh two-year deal at the University of Bolton Stadium.

He has turned out 30 times for the club after coming through Bolton's youth ranks, and 19 of those appearances came last season as Wanderers secured automatic promotion out of League Two.

Brockbank's deal at the University of Bolton Stadium was poised to run out this summer, but the club opened talks over a new deal and came to a successful conclusion.

The defender has thanked Bolton manager Ian Evatt for putting trust in him and believes the club now has a 'completely different' atmosphere.

And the defender is targeting getting another promotion under his belt after being part of the squad which took Wanderers back to League One.

Speaking about his new deal, Brockbank, who is also a mental health ambassador for the club, said: “I’m delighted and absolutely buzzing to have signed a new contract.

"Hopefully now we can push onto next season and put all our focus into League One, and then hopefully get another promotion.

“I’m thankful to the gaffer for putting his trust in me. The club feels like it’s got a completely different atmosphere, it’s a lot more positive and it feels like we’re on the up.”
