If you've recorded the Lost double bill finale and not yet seen it, then look away now......
Let's just hope that Channel 4 is planning to show series 3 as soon as possible, for while the finale of series 1 essentially left us with: What's in the hatch? series 2 left so many cliff hangers:
Will Michael and Walt make it to safety? Given that the last 2 boats to leave the island got nowhere. Is this because compasses and the sea are messed up by strange electro-magnetic forces? Or indeed, because there is nowhere else, what with the Island being the first level of purgatory or something?
Which is what I used to think until the show did something truly shocking last night: its first, in-the-present off-the-island action. Where the hell are those Russian blokes in a hatch of their own? It certainly looked to snowy to be anywhere near the island (polar bears aside). And why are they in contact with the posh English lover of Desmond? And why didn't Desmond just tell her that he wrote to her every single day from prison but that Scott's Dad from Neighbours intercepted them all? Why go on a stupid round the world boat race to prove his point, when he could clearly have just got back with her in the sports stadium.
What happened to Desmond after he turned the key (seems unlikely he survived given the enormous noise and light immediately afterwards)? Surely Mr Eko will be alright. And Locke. But what about Jack, Kate and James (better known as Sawyer)?
And why did Claire suddenly decide that she liked Charlie again after a season of hating him for his smack habit? And, speaking of Charlie, nearly killed by flying darts: had anybody ever seen that dartboard before?
These, and so many other questions, are on our lips in the office this morning. Season 3 starts on ABC in the States on 4 October. Come on Channel 4: give it to us now!
