'We're here to stay!' Popular restaurant hits back at closure rumours

A much-loved bistro that's been trading in a quiet Merseyside village for almost two decades has addressed rumours it is set to close.

Esperantos Bistro opened on Liverpool Road in Ainsdale, near Southport, in 2005 and specialises in dishes inspired from countries across the Mediterranean. Over the weekend, the owners took to Facebook to address "hearsay" that Esperantos is set to close its doors or change management.

The post from Saturday, March 18, said: "We had some lovely sunshine in Ainsdale village over lunchtime today!

"We'd also like to take the opportunity to address some hearsay passed on to us from a few customers, and express that we are not closing, selling, or changing management here at Esperantos.

"In fact, next month we will celebrate our 18th birthday! We are definitely here to stay."

Fans of the restaurant were quick to express relief. One said: "Wonderful to hear. The village wouldn't be the same without you," while another added: "We are all glad you put that straight."

Another fan said: "Love eating lunch so very friendly and relaxed would recommend to anyone."

Esparantos boasts 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor and is rated 57 out of 219 restaurants in Southport.
