'We're finished' - Manchester United fans fear Erik ten Hag reports after new manager interview

Manchester United fans are fearing Erik ten Hag will not be their next manager after reporters suggested the Ajax head coach lacked 'charisma' compared to job rival Mauricio Pochettino.

The Dutchman has become a favourite amongst supporters since it became apparent that the 52-year-old was among the potential candidates to be the next permanent successor at Old Trafford. However, PSG and former Tottenham boss Pochettino is also in contention.

According to the Independent, Ten Hag impressed in his interview but did not leave his potential new employers "blown away". It is a view reportedly echoed by the Tottenham hierarchy during their own manager search last summer, which saw Nuno Espirito Santo hired and fired inside five months.

A Manchester Evening News report this week revealed a dressing room split over Ten Hag, with players intrigued by the prospect of working with the Ajax chief but some also feel he is an "underwhelming" choice. Pochettino is understood to have the backing of sections of the United dressing room, though the fanbase is largely backing Ten Hag.

Current interim manager Ralf Rangnick is set to see out his six-month contract in the United hot seat before taking on a consultancy role. However, reports on Wednesday queried how intensive his duties would be.
