Leeds United defender Stuart Dallas believes his team “played like champions” in their 3-1 victory over Derby County on Sunday afternoon.
Marcelo Bielsa's side were confirmed as champions on Saturday afternoon following Brentford’s 1-0 defeat at Stoke City, just a day after their promotion to the Premier League was secured.
The Rams actually took the lead over last season’s play-off semi-final opponents when Chris Martin scored on 54 minutes.
However, a lovely strike from Pablo Hernandez, just two minutes later, levelled the game at Pride Park.
A Jamie Shackleton strike and then a late own goal from Matthew Clarke ensured the Whites moved onto 90 points with their 27th win of the league season.
Dallas, who played all 90 minutes for the visitors, believes his side played like the champions they are on Sunday afternoon.
The Northern Irishman told Sky Sports after the game: “Obviously when the games are coming thick and fast - we enjoyed the moment on Thursday.
“I thought we played like champions today. I think we were brilliant from the first whistle. You can see what it means to everyone involved.”
Dallas was also very complimentary of manager Bielsa - who has guided Leeds to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
The 29-year-old has been an integral part of the club’s historic season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 44 Championship appearances, and he feels a great deal of gratitude to the Argentine.
“I don’t have any words to thank him for the transformation he’s done for me,” Dallas said on the Leeds boss.
“He’s been massive. I’m just happy to be playing for a team that has won the league. I can’t describe it.”
