We never take a Cheltenham Festival win for granted says Imperial Aura Hamilton owner

Hamilton owner Paul Costello insists he never took his Cheltenham win for granted as favourite Imperial Aura raced to victory.

Costello, who is a director with Upload Abode in Motherwell, watched from the crowd last week as the bookies’ pick won the Northern Trust Company Novices’ Handicap Chase.

The part-owner said that the short price on Aura didn’t mean anything as the horse took to the famous track.

“You always know a good horse but we had a couple of small set-backs on the way to Cheltenham,” said Costello.

“You can never be 100 per cent sure whatever the odds, whether it’s a 25-1 or 5-1 win.

“Sometimes things can happen that are totally out of your control, but it’s a great feeling when it does work out for you.

“In the end we came in as favourites, I think we went in finally at 4-1, so there was a lot of expectation that we would do well.

“I don’t really feel any good results in top races.”
