West Ham United fans have had their hopes raised of signing Maxi Gomez, following reports that the Hammers have now offered the €50m release clause for the Celta Vigo striker.
According to Sky Sports, the Hammers have made the offer for the striker, who has been heavily linked with a move to Valencia in recent days, with the La Liga side thought to be in pole position to sign him.
It is being reported that discussions are ongoing over payment structure, with West Ham proposing to pay the full amount in instalments, although Sky are also reporting that the forward's release clause cannot be triggered until the full amount has been lodged.
However, the latest update on his future has given Hammers fans some hope that they could yet swoop to sign the Uruguayan, with West Ham looking set to lose forward Marko Arnautovic, who is closing in on a move to China.
