'We need you' - Manchester United fans hijack Lisandro Martinez post with same messages

Manchester United supporters have urged Lisandro Martinez to return to Old Trafford as soon as possible - while also seeing the funny side to his latest update. Martinez and the Argentina squad remain in their homeland after a memorable World Cup victory on Sunday afternoon.

In a thrilling Qatar showpiece, Argentina overcame France via a penalty shootout after Lionel Messi (2) and Kylian Mbappe (3) had traded blows across 120 minutes. Martinez was, meanwhile, forced to watch through his hands on the Argentina bench as an unused substitute.

However, with four appearances in the tournament, the 24-year-old more than played his part. It seems he is now taking on a starring role when it comes to their World Cup celebrations, too.

After taking a selfie at breakfast time, Martinez - who posed front and centre wearing sunglasses, with teammates Cristian Romero and Nahuel Molina in the background - uploaded it onto his Twitter account as likes and responses continue to flood in.

Martinez and France defender Raphael Varane have yet to return to Old Trafford following their Qatar adventure - with those two striking up an impressive partnership this season. In their absence, Casemiro played at centre-back during the Carabao Cup victory over Burnley at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

But with Premier League resumption around the corner, supporters want their summer signing back. Martinez also posted on Instagram shortly after his Twitter update in which he was being driven around hometown of Gualeguay.

However, it was the Twitter post that drew in reaction, with his caption translating to: "Several ended up like that, right?" He added laughing face and trophy emojis to his post. Here are some replies from United supporters;
