"We need a new voice": Newcastle defender delivers dressing room verdict on managerial situation

Emil Krafth says Newcastle United need a "new voice" in the dressing room - but insists Graeme Jones has done a great job as interim coach.

The Newcastle defender has been restored to the starting line-up by Jones during his short spell as caretaker but agrees with the former Luton boss that new blood is needed behind the scenes.

Speaking to Talksport ahead of the weekend clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, Krafth has been reflecting on a whirlwind month after the takeover went through and Steve Bruce departed the club.

The Sweden international said: "There's been a lot going on.

"Graeme has been in charge for the last two games and for me he has done a great job but he said in the news the other day that the team would feel better with a new face.

"And a new voice in the dressing room.

"I agree on that.

"The team would feel good with a new face and new voice in there."

Krafth then paid tribute to Jones after his fortnight in charge.

Krafth said: "I think the job Graeme has put in is terrific and he is a good coach and good person.

"But he is extremely honest about everything.

"And I think what he said is how it is, the team would feel with that new face coming in."

Newcastle head to Brighton in desperate need of a victory as they sit languishing in the bottom three.

Krafth added: "We are paid to play football for the club.

"What happened has happened.

"We can't really do anything about it.

"It's above our heads.

"We are here to do our best every day and achieve the best things possible.

"You can't think of other things.

"You should do the same thing and same work whether Graeme stayed or there is a new coach."
