'We must remain vigilant': Canberrans warned against complacency as no new cases recorded

The ACT has gone another 24 hours without reporting a new case of COVID-19 but the community has been warned against complacency as the death toll in Victoria worsens.

There is one active case of coronavirus in the ACT with the total remaining at 113. A total of 109 people have recovered and three people have died.

Victoria reported 384 new infections on Tuesday and six more deaths, bringing the state toll to 83.

NSW has recorded 14 new cases of coronavirus in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

ACT chief health officer Dr Kerryn Coleman said all Canberrans needed to remember their responsibilities when it comes to stopping the spread of COVID-19.

"The pandemic is not over and we must remain vigilant," Dr Coleman said.

"We all have a responsibility to make sure we are maintaining a physical distance from people and practicing good hygiene. This is good general advice to follow, regardless of where you are and what you are doing.

"We only need to have a look at what is happening in Victoria and NSW to see how the situation can change quickly if people don't do the right thing.

"Our continued success in the fight against this virus relies on Canberrans maintaining this effort in the weeks and months ahead."

Dr Coleman also again reminded everyone to stay home if they are unwell.

"You may think it's just a cold, but you must stay home if you are unwell. Don't go to work or to the shops. Go and get tested for COVID-19," she said.

Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith on Monday warned people to take individual responsibility seriously after police reported large line ups outside venues over the weekend.

ACT Health said 48,573 coronavirus tests have now been performed.
