'We must do better' - Mikel Arteta fires warning ahead of Arsenal vs Leeds United EFL Cup tie

Leeds United will be looking to progress into the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup for the first time since 2016 when they travel to Arsenal on Tuesday night.

Marcelo Bielsa's side earned victories over Crewe Alexandra and Fulham to get to this stage of the competition, but face their sternest test yet against the Gunners.

Having not lost any of their last eight matches in all competitions, Mikel Arteta's men are currently in a rich vein of form and he has fired a warning ahead of the clash.

Despite beating Aston Villa 3-1, Arteta admitted that his team 'must be better' in certain situations and he will possibly want to rectify that against Leeds.

The Gunners have beaten West Bromwich Albion and AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup so far and this could be a good opportunity for more silverware after they won the FA Cup in 2020.

After the win over Villa, the Spaniard claimed that their recent results aren't 'enough' but does hope they can continue the same level of performance as they prepare to host the Whites.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta said: It is nice. Again we had a tough start and we’ve been more consistent with results, with performances.

"There are still things that we must do better, but today I’m really satisfied with the performance and the result."

"Because we analysed it because we discussed it and because we found the right reasons why it’s happening," he added.

"Don’t think that it’s a coincidence and that we can rely on some immaturities.

"It’s not enough. Whatever we have to do is now, we cannot do it in six months or three years, we have to do it now.

"We cannot waste the opportunity because we can do it. A point is better so congratulate them, but things that are in our control we have to do better."

Arteta will hope that his team can replicate a similar showing from the last time they took on Leeds after a Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang hat-trick helped them to a 4-2 success in February.

On the other hand, the Whites can record a first victory against their opponents since 2003 and have gone nine matches without a win in this fixture.
