We made Harmehar perform in a park initially so that she could get over her nervousness, says the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs contestant's mother

Harmehar Kaur Kalsey is a young, talented singer currently seen in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs. Harmehar has been singing since she was little because her father runs a music studio. She also plays several musical instruments.

The eight-year-old performs effortlessly in front of the judges and crowds, but her mother Shweta Singh Kalsey shares, “Initially, she used to get nervous. So, we would take her to a park to help her get over her nervousness. She found it funny, but it helped and she found her way through auditions and finally got selected for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs."

Talking about how her daughter balances her art along with her studies, Shweta says, "A typical day for her on the set would be spending 8-12 hours practising for the next episode. This happens only once a week, so she is not under any pressure.” Parents have a huge role to play in instilling the right values in kids, and in the case of child actors it is even more challenging for the folks. But Shweta says kids of today are a lot more mature than earlier. She adds, “I don’t feel children get affected by success if you teach them the importance of hard work and instill the right values in them."

Education is very important and there can be no compromises there, emphasises Shweta. "From childhood, we have taught her to just focus on her singing and studies. Luckily when you are participating in a reality show, you get a lot of time for your studies," she says.
