'We'll see' - La Liga striker speaks out on future amid Liverpool transfer rumours

Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak has refused to rule out a move to the Premier League, insisting it would be 'nice' to one day operate in the English top-flight.

The 22-year-old impressed at Euro 2020 in the summer, helping Sweden progress to the Round of 16 after negotiating a testing group with Poland, Slovakia and Spain.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Isak during the tournament, though any hope of a potential move to Anfield was ended at the start of July when he agreed a new deal with Sociedad until 2026.

His decision to remain in La Liga has proven to be an inspired choice, with La Real currently top of the table in Spain.

Isak's three goals in nine league appearances have helped fuel an unlikely title challenge, with Barcelona and Real Madrid no longer the dominant duo in the division.

Although happy with his situation in Spain, the Sweden international has conceded that signing for a Premier League club remains an option for the future.

“I’m in a good place at the moment, I’m very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well," Isak told The Independent.

“They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative.

“Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level.

“I have expectations for myself that I’m trying to fulfil, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future.”

Isak joined Sociedad on a permanent basis in 2019, having failed to establish himself at former side Borussia Dortmund while still a teenager.

He began his career at Swedish side AIK.
