'We'll make Rangers suffer' Defiant St Joseph's duo blast warning to Steven Gerrard

Defiant St Joseph’s coach Raul Procopio has warned Rangers they could falter in Gibraltar as Celtic did three years ago.

The Hoops were humbled 1-0 by Lincoln Red Imps before recovering to win the tie in Glasgow.

The same stadium will host Rangers in the Europa League quaifier on Tuesday and Procopio said: “We’re preparing for this match with total confidence. For Rangers, their visit to Victoria Stadium will not be a holiday.

“If Lincoln Red Imps can beat Celtic there, why can’t we repeat that against Rangers?

"This is our final and the players are feeling inspired.

“We were the outsiders against Prishtina as well and each tie is 180 minutes of football. So we will play without fear and although they are a superior team, they’ll need all their effort to beat us.”

Gibraltar’s oldest club, St Joseph’s finished third in the league last year to qualify for the Europa League.

Spanish keeper Francisco Mateo has warned Rangers not to underestimate them, with their domestic game now ahead of the likes of Wales and Northern Ireland in the UEFA coefficient table.

Stunning setting at the Victoria Stadium

He said: “We’ll be working hard to make sure they suffer at our ground.

“Although Rangers have a far bigger reputation than us, the name isn’t important.

"It does not mean we will make it comfortable for them.”
