'We'll keep looking forward' Liam Cooper's end-of-year promise to Leeds United fans

Liam Cooper has told fans that "nothing's done in December" but that Leeds United intend to look forward as they continue to chase promotion to the Premier League in 2020.

The Whites sit second in the Championship with over half the campaign gone and their final game of the year looming away at Birmingham City.

Marcelo Bielsa and his men have been in something of a rut for the past few games, having only taken two points from their past three games.

Though they remain eight points ahead of third-place Brentford in the race to finish in the top two, their rough form has raised the spectre of last term's late collapse.

Cooper however, in reflecting on 2019 as a whole, felt it was a positive 12 months for United, though he warned that there is work still to be done to achieve their ambitions.

"It’s been a good year but nothing’s done in December," he stated. "We wish it was, but it’s not.

"We know what we’ve got to do and the standards we’ve got to set ourselves to be at our best. We can’t look back now, we’ll keep looking forward and preparing well and keep performing."

Leeds kick off 2020 with a table-topping clash against West Bromwich Albion on New Year's Day at the Hawthorns, as they look to keep the gap between them and the play-off race below them once again.

They then face an FA Cup trip to old Premier League rivals Arsenal, which features an additional undercurrent in regards to speculation over Eddie Nketiah's future.
