'We'll be coming for you next' - Police warning as dawn drug raids see four arrested

Police have warned criminals in Oldham that they're next on the force's radar after four were arrested when officers swooped on properties in dawn drugs raids as part of a crackdown on criminal activity in the town.

Officers started out the day with early morning raids on two properties on Ashley Street today, December 3, targeting suspicious activity in Failsworth, Limeside and Hollinwood.

Oldham police took to Twitter to inform the public of the move named 'Operation Vortex', posting images of the raids.

Chief Superintendent Chris Bowen, who joined officers serving warrants this morning said the operation would take place every month in different parts of the district, warning criminals "we'll be coming for you next".

After the Ashley Street raid, three men were arrested for drug offences.

One was held on suspicion of possession of Class B drugs, whilst two were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

Later in the day, further warrants carried out in Werneth saw another man arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

Officers had to force their way into the home, where they found a "substantial amount" of cannabis inside.

Elsewhere, officers seized 11 vehicles in Failsworth for driving without a licence or insurance, making a fifth arrest after they suspected one driver was under the influence of drugs.

PCSOs were also out with local councillors from Medlock Vale litter picking in the ward to clean up the area.

The latest action follows the announcement of targeting action in various areas of Greater Manchester following the recent appointment of Chief Constable Stephen Watson.

Last month, an apartment in Salford was one of a number of properties stormed on a day of action across Salford called Operation Avro, which the Manchester Evening News was invited to follow.

By late afternoon, 13 search warrants had been undertaken and 18 people had been arrested - with drugs, stolen items and even exotic birds seized across the city.
