A much-loved city centre cocktail bar has announced its closure this week, after more than two years in business.
Furnival’s Well, in Campbell Square, was regarded to many as a hidden gem in Liverpool, based in the old Bridewell pub and police station that dates back to the mid 19th century.
Taking to Facebook to announce the news, Furnival's Well team posted : "We have thoroughly enjoyed our time as custodians of this Bridewell (certainly much more than some of its former ‘residents’!)
"We have been charmed by it’s features, intrigued by it’s past, and delighted by it’s neighbours!
"However, the time has come to pass the keys to another suitable gaoler.
"Thank you so much for your support during our time here. We’ve loved every minute!
"While we leave with a heavy heart, we are extremely excited as to what is in store next for the building.
"Suffice to say, they share our principles of delivering an excellent product with effortless hospitality.
"Furthermore, it is their first venue, so please extend the same support and love to them that you have to us. You won’t be disappointed!"
Many customers have expressed their upset at the closure, Jackie Bradshaw said: "Absolutely devastated. love you guys"
Laura Worthington said: "Ahhh this is such a shame, one of the best bars in Liverpool but I fear just the wrong location!"
While Emma Jayne added: "This is very sad...loved the concept when we visited in February's heat wave"
Furnival’s Well will close after this weekend and will be giving away free pizza from 5pm on Saturday, June 22.
On Sunday, June 23, the final goodbye will continue with a ‘everything must go bonanza’.
