'We hope it's him' Dad of missing Glenrothes man Allan Bryant opens up on human remains find at industrial estate

The devastated parents of a young Scot missing for seven years are hoping for 'closure' after cops found human remains.

Allan Bryant was last seen leaving the Styx nightclub in Glenrothes in November, 2013.

Despite a massive search by police, no trace of the then 23-year-old has ever been found.

But heartbroken parents Allan Senior and Marie have never given up hope and put out many appeals for information.

Last night, a police probe has been launched after human remains were found at a Scots industrial estate.

Emergency services raced to the scene on Whitehill Road, Glenrothes, at around 5.20pm on Sunday after the grim discovery was made.

Cops continue to search the area with police tape put up.

The industrial estate is near to the club where young Allan was last seen and the Bryant family home.

Allan Snr told the Record that senior police would be updating them today on the find and that they 'hadn't slept' as they awaited information.

He said: "We are meeting with the major investigation team where we are hoping to find out exactly what has happened.

"We haven't slept all night.

"We have been through this before around two years ago when someone else was found in the park.

"We are hoping it will be Allan, it would be some sort of closure and help us get on with our lives.

"But just now we don't know what is happening."

He added that the investigation may take several days to find any DNA linked to his son.

He said: "We met the Major investigation team just after 10am this morning.

"Forensics will be there for several days they explained to myself and Allan's Mum what's actually happening.

"It will take a few days for DNA if they find anything to say it's our son Allan they will contact us straight away."

In a Facebook post on the Justice for Allan Bryant Jnr page last night he said police had informed them of the find.

He wrote: "My family had a visit from Glenrothes CID last night they informed us that human remains where found at a local industrial estate which is not far from our home this is all my family know at the moment until the police and forensics carry out their investigation this is a heartbreaking and distressing time for all my family we do not know if this is our son Allan or not.

"Thank you all so much for your continued support.

"Love from Myself and Marie."

Allan was last seen leaving the Styx nightclub in his hometown of Glenrothes in the early hours of November 3, 2013 - the club is only 10 minutes from the family home.

Despite one of the biggest missing person searches ever undertaken by police in Scotland, and a tireless campaign led by his family and their supporters, no trace has ever been found of him.

CCTV footage has been released of the last moments he was seen.

Mum Marie opened up to the Record in August about the family's 'daily nightmare', especially Allan's sisters Amy, 24, and Sophie, 15 who have grown up without their brother by their side.

She said: "I would plead with anyone who knows anything to please come forward, we are living a nightmare every day.

"Someone out there must know something and I would say to them to please think of us.

"It isn't just me who is suffering, this has affected the whole family.

"His two sisters are growing up without their brother."
