'We heard two loud bangs, then there were police everywhere': Neighbours tell of their shock after shooting on 'quiet residential street' in Stockport

Neighbours have told of their shock following a shooting on a cul-de-sac in suburban Stockport.

Police swooped on Heathland Terrace in Cale Green just before 8pm on Saturday following reports a man was shot at in the street.

Neighbours reported hearing two loud bangs at about 7.50pm.

It's thought a shotgun was used.

No-one was injured and no arrests have been made.

One Heathland Terrace resident said: "We heard two loud bangs, but thought it was fireworks so thought nothing of it and carried on watching telly.

"Then when we looked outside there were police everywhere."

Another resident said police had been searching for shells on the street outside her home.

She added: "This is a really nice, quiet residential area.

"It's really improved recently.

"We had some trouble years ago, but nothing like this."

A police cordon remained in place until late Sunday morning.
