'We have to' - Lucas Digne sends message to Everton fans after Crystal Palace defeat

Lucas Digne has told supporters Everton will 'fight again' after losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

A Conor Gallagher brace and James Tomkins goal condemned Rafa Benitez's side to defeat in the capital, in what was a largely disappointing display at Selhurst Park.

Patrick Vieira's side carved through the Blues with ease, punishing individual and team mistakes on their way to securing three points.

Omitted from the Everton matchday squad for a second game in succession was Digne, with Ben Godfrey again preferred at left-back by Benitez.

Despite playing no part in proceedings, Digne had a message for supporters after the match as he promised a reaction from the first team.

"Head up and fight again," he tweeted.

"The games come quick, we have to do the same like against Arsenal."

Quizzed on why the France international had been left out for the second week running prior to Sunday's defeat, Benitez told Sky Sports: "He’s (Digne) training well and he will have chances if he keeps training in the same way."

A report in the Athletic this week claimed that Digne and Benitez were embroiled in a training ground argument, in Spanish, ahead of the Arsenal game and the Everton boss seemed keen to make a point when previewing the Palace fixture on Friday.

"Normally when you have conversations with players they are private conversations and you have to keep them private," he said.

"The only thing I can say is he's been training and we have to decide tomorrow if he's available or not."
