'We have so much hurt in our hearts' Family tribute to woman who died in Stirling motorcycle crash

The first picture of a woman who tragically died in a horror Stirling motorcycle crash has been released by her family.

Shirley-Ann Barnes from Kilmarnock lost her life yesterday after coming off her bike last Sunday near a busy roundabout.

Now her heartbroken family have paid an emotional tribute to the tragic 57-year-old.

In a statement they said: "We have so much hurt in our hearts, but at this sad time, we find comfort in how much Shirley-Ann meant to so many people, especially in the biking community.

"She will continue to ride with everyone still, she will be so very missed.”

Shirley had been riding her Yamaha Virago motorbike at Pirnhall Stirling Service when the accident happened.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated but Shirley appears to have lost control of the motorcycle and left the road near the A872 junction at around 4.45pm.

She was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in critical condition with serious injuries before sadly died.

Sergeant David Marr from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Stirling said: “Our enquiries are continuing to establish the cause of this crash and I would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

“This is a very busy roundabout next to the local motorway services, and I am urging any witnesses or anyone who was driving there around the time of the crash who has dash-cam footage to contact us.”
