'We have done all we can' - Football League club hoping to tie up Nottingham Forest transfer

Port Vale are doing everything in their power to try and turn Jake Taylor’s loan move from Nottingham Forest into a permanent one, says boss John Askey.

Taylor has excelled since moving to the Potteries in a temporary move and bagged his seventh goal for the Valiants in the 2-0 win over League Two leaders Swindon Town on Sunday.

His fine curling effort from 18-yards further showcased why Vale are so keen to make the move permanent, but Askey says his club are waiting on a response from Forest after seeing their initial bid for the 21-year-old midfielder rejected by the Championship giants.

Taylor’s current loan deal at Vale Park is set to end on January 18 and he’s previously spoken about how much he’s been enjoying his spell in Staffordshire.

"We are just waiting for Forest now,” Askey told Stoke on Trent Live.

“We have done all we can.

“I am sure Jake is enjoying it so hopefully we can get it over the line.

“If we can't then it isn't through lack of trying."

Taylor is a product of Forest’s academy and had been a regular in Jimmy Gilligan’s Under-23 set-up, before getting his first taste of Football League action with Vale.
