'We had so many plans for the future': Heartbroken family pays tribute to grandad who died in crash

A heartbroken family has paid tribute to a grandfather following his death in a crash.

Police were called to Centenary Bridge, Trafford Park, at 12.48am on Monday (December 20), to a report of a collision involving a cyclist and a silver VW Golf.

Roger Parris, 63, died in hospital from his injuries.

The driver of the car - a man in his 20s - assisted officers at the scene.

No arrests have been made.

Now Mr Parris' loved ones, who are being supported by specialist police officers, have paid tribute to him.

They wrote: "Roger Parris, was a devoted Dad and Grandad ‘Pops’ who, at just 63 years of age had years ahead of him filled with many plans for retirement including holidays and trips out in his classic car and motorbike.

"As well as simply spending time with his son, daughter, partner Sue and much loved grandchildren.

"We had so many plans for the future and it breaks our hearts you cannot fulfil them.

"Roger seized every day; the keen runner, hiker and cyclist had a real flair for adventure.

"Your life was so abruptly cut short, and the realisation that you will no longer be just a phone call away is devastating. We will miss him dearly."
