'We got £35m for him' - Arsenal fans can't believe what Marco Silva did to Alex Iwobi

Alex Iwobi always divided opinion at Arsenal.

The Nigerian international was often capable of the sublime, but all too often flattered to deceive as well.

After coming through the ranks at Arsenal, he brought an end to a six-year spell with the club when he made the move to Everton in the summer.

The Toffees shelled out a fee in the region of £35million for the midfielder, but he is yet to really make his mark on the Merseyside club.

He has started just two Premier League games, coming off the bench in three others.

He has scored two goals, one in the Carabao Cup against Lincoln and one in the Premier League against Wolves.

Iwobi is not the only one to struggle for Everton though, with Marco Silva's men languishing in 15th place in the table after just two wins from their opening seven games of the season.

And Iwobi suffered the ultimate ignominy at home to champions Manchester City on Saturday night.

Iwobi was dropped from the starting lineup in favour of Theo Walcott, but just seven minutes in Iwobi was called upon, replacing Walcott after he suffered a head injury, taking a ball on the back of the head from a Raheem Sterling cross.

But the substitute did not see the game out. Iwobi was substituted by Silva in the second half, coming off to be replaced by another summer signing in the form of Moise Kean.

And there was plenty of reaction to the move on social media.

Here's what the Everton and Arsenal fans have been saying on Twitter following the 3-1 win for Man City over Everton.

Iwobi will be hoping to enjoy a better time of it when Everton travel to Burnley next Saturday.
