The Jets blew it.
They were three losses away from Trevor Lawrence and they blew it. The 23-20 win over the Rams on Sunday dropped the Jets to the No. 2 spot in the draft order and gave the Jaguars a 78.4% chance at securing the top spot, per Football Outsiders.
It’s sad, really. Lawrence was the light at the end of this awful tunnel. He was going to make it all worth it. It already felt like he was a member of the team. Fans ordered customized jerseys and made photoshops of the Clemson star in a Jets uniform. Now it looks like that will be closest this downtrodden fanbase will get to seeing him don the green and white.
But Jets fans weren’t alone. Coming into the season, every fanbase of non-playoff contenders had dreams of Lawrence shoving that flowing hair into the helmet of their favorite team. Hell, even some of the playoff teams dared to dream. Everyone wanted Lawrence, and to prove it, I scoured the internet and collected all of the uniform swaps I could find.
Some of them are very good. Others are ridiculous. But all of them should cheer up Jets fans just a little. They weren’t the only ones who are thinking “what could have been?” In all, I found SIXTEEN different fanbases that had photoshopped Lawrence into their favorite team’s uniforms.
