A MAITLAND couple have clinched a Keno prize of more than $1.7 million.
The pair claimed their prize in Tuesday's game 900, with the gamble earning them $1,707,307.50.
"It's incredibly exciting. We can't believe if," the woman said after confirming their win with officials on Thursday.
She said the couple had only checked their ticket on a whim on Tuesday and were "still shaking".
"We only play Keno sporadically and we bought the ticket on Tuesday afternoon and then went home and forgot about it," the woman said in a statement.
"We only decided to check the results online last night and we couldn't believe our eyes.
"We went berserk! We both got very dizzy and couldn't stop shaking.
The pair said the Club Maitland City ticket would give them a greater degree of freedom.
"We will be setting ourselves up for the rest of our lives," she said.
"We're going to buy a new home and really enjoy our retirement."
Club Maitland City chief executive Ian Martin said he was thrilled to have sold the winning game.
"When we saw the win come up on the screen the atmosphere here was electric. Everyone was so happy and all the patrons in the club were checking their tickets and hoping they were the winner," he said.
