Meta Connect 2025 is now over, but it provided a ton of big announcements like the Ray-Ban Gen 2 and Oakley Vanguard, as well as that moment where Zuckerberg ran away with Diplo. However, none are more exciting than the newly unveiled Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses.
Our Editor-at-Large Lance Ulanoff was lucky enough to go hands-on with them, and it took no time at all for him to recognize that the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses succeed in almost every way Google Glass failed.
Even Lance, who has tried almost every product you could imagine – including an array of smart glasses – called them "a different beast".
It's rare to find a first-of-its-kind product these days, but these glasses look to be a step above anything else on the market in their design, display tech, smarts and gestures. They provide video, photos, calls, real-time translations and directions, in addition to notifications and information you'd expect.
While we were thoroughly impressed, you shouldn't just take our word for it. There's really only one way of knowing if a regular-looking pair of Ray-Bans that cost $799 (availability and pricing for other markets TBC) and can replace your phone are for you. I mean, can you imagine yourself standing on a street corner scrolling through Instagram with the subtle movements of your fingers as you watch a reel on your glasses?
Luckily, you’ll have the chance to see them for yourself. While the Meta Ray-Ban Display begins shipping on September 30, a purchase can only be made after a demo to confirm fit and function. Exclusively available at Best Buy, demos begin on October 3, so you'll need to act quick if you plan to get your hands on them.
Schedule your demo at Best Buy
The exclusive retailer for Meta Ray-Ban Display is providing demos of the new cutting-edge technology in more than 300 stores in major cities across the United States.
And, don't worry, you don't need to have futuristic glasses attached to your head to book in a demo. All you have to do is head to the Best Buy listing for the Meta - Ray-Ban Display & Neural Band, where you will find the option to 'Schedule demo' instead of the usual 'Add to cart' button.
From here, you'll be directed to the Meta site and prompted to enter your address to find the closest Best Buy within 50 miles of your location. Once done, you just have to select your chosen store and when you'd like to take your demo.
Then, just enter your name and email address to secure your chosen time. Note, those with a prescription must know their details or wear contact lenses to the demo. The glasses have prescription options, but demo models have a range of -4.00 to +4.00.
Here's a quick breakdown of what to expect:
- Click 'Schedule demo' on Best Buy or Meta
- Choose a store location and time through Meta’s demo scheduler.
- You’ll receive confirmation and reminders leading up to your appointment.
- At your demo, the Best Buy Meta specialists will walk you through the product’s features and ensure the right fit for you.
- Choose whether to make your purchase or wait. If you don’t buy, you'll be sent a follow-up email with details of your demo.
