'We don't charge extra' - ScotRail's response to complaint over price of 'peak time price hike' goes viral

ScotRail's team has just about broken the Internet with their latest response to a complaint over "peak time hikes".

It all started when a disgruntled passenger, fed up with paying extra for peak time train tickets, made her frustration known.

Tweeting ScotRail, Stacey Lovell said: "I'm in Edinburgh today for a conference and it finishes just in time for ScotRail's ridiculous peak time price hike so you bet your ass I'm just going to be sitting in Waverley for two and half hours looking cross and stubborn."

It was just another angry passenger for ScotRail's communications team but the response from Paul has gone viral - even though it probably wasn't his intention.

Replying on behalf of ScotRail, he wrote: "Hi, we don't charge extra to travel at peak times, but we do offer a discount to travel at quieter times. ^Paul"

Poor Paul. The tweet - which was summed up on Reddit as "classic ScotRail" - has now been retweeted over one thousand times.

One wrote: "Paul have you ever thought about being a politician?"

He replied: "Let's see if I still have a career at ScotRail first ^Paul"

Extreme Polls even got involved with the poll of all polls, which gave the choice between: "A Lifetime contract for Scotland's railways plus £1,000,000.

But 'We don't charge extra to travel at peak times, but we do offer a discount to travel at quieter times' must be Scotrail's slogan forever, and displayed on every train and at every station in the country."

Spoiler alert: The majority voted take it.
