'We dominated' Blackburn Rovers midfielder gives his honest verdict on Nottingham Forest draw

Former England international Stewart Downing left Ewood Park feeling pretty hard done by on Tuesday night.

The Blackburn Rovers midfielder thinks his side deserved far more than just the point they shared with Sabri Lamouchi's Nottingham Forest .

Rovers were the stronger force through much of the game and could hand stolen all three points at the end on a night that just was not meant to be for the hosts.

“They're a good team, but I felt we dominated the game in large periods," Downing told Blackburn Rovers' official website, when asked about Forest.

“It just didn't drop for us in the second half, despite having plenty of shots and crosses coming into the box."

Blackburn had the lead shortly after the hour mark when former Newcastle United man Adam Armstrong popped up with a goal.

But Forest were level shortly after when Joe Lolley twisted and turned into space on the edge of the area before firing an effort into the bottom corner.

Downing continued: "I didn't see the goal coming for them if I'm being honest.

“Adam Armstrong had a really good game against a good player in Matty Cash.

"How many shots did they have in the game? We defended well as a team and looked a threat at the other end."
