'We deserved it' - every word Sabri Lamouchi said after Nottingham Forest's draw at Bristol City

A battling stalemate was Nottingham Forest’s reward for playing much of the second half at Ashton Gate with ten men.

Ryan Yates was given his marching orders by referee Craig Pawson for a late challenge on Bristol City’s Adam Nagy which handed the initiative to the hosts, one they failed to take advantage of.

Despite having a man advantage four minutes shy of the hour, Lee Johnson’s Robins were unable to test Brice Samba in the Forest goal, and through Lewis Grabban it was the visitors who should probably have found the elusive winner.

Forest head coach Sabri Lamouchi admitted that he was pleased with the grit and determination his side showed throughout, though especially after Yates’ dismissal.

Here’s what Lamouchi had to say on proceedings…

Lamouchi talks about the spirit of his players:

“I think it was a good point, we deserved it and I like the spirit, especially with one player less.

“In the first half, we didn’t create a lot but we could have scored through Ryan and Diedhiou made a great save on the line.

“In the second half, with one player less, it was very difficult but the attitude and the spirit of the players, those who came in like Albert, Rafa Mir and Joao, they worked a lot for the team and for me that is really important.

"It was positive and it was a great point.

“We didn’t have many chances but we had one clear one, we could have scored it in the second half but we didn’t. We keep this result, we keep this point and it is very positive.

“The players never gave up and they need to trust more in themselves because they are doing well, they are working well and I am proud to work with them.

“They need to trust more in themselves because we have the quality; they need to try more things and believe.”

What did you make of Ryan Yates’ sending off?

It was a logical decision.

"It wasn’t necessary to make that foul in that moment, there.

“It was clear, and with our young players we just need to help them because with bad decisions and with bad things like today, they can kill the team and the work of the week."

What’s the latest on Yuri Ribeiro’s injury?

He received a kick in the knee - a stupid kick.

“He has had an MRI.

“I hope he will start to run tomorrow with us, and we will see for the next week and the next game.”
